Sagebrush is a family of herbaceous perennials & annuals of the Artemisia genus. Sagebrush dominates the landscape of the American west, where its many varieties have been prized for millenia as medicinal plants by indigenous tribes.
Sagebrush is not to be confused with wormwood & mugwort, despite being related plants with similar medicinal & mood-altering properties (and despite some sagebrush varieties being erroneously referred to as “wormwood” & “mugwort”). The chemical mode of action in sagebrush is different than that of wormwood/mugwort, though some compounds appear in both.
